Hidden Treasures

Hezekiah with the prophet Isaiah. The Imperial...Image via Wikipedia

As I was sitting on the couch, fixing to open my bible to read..............................God spoke the name Hezekiah to my mind.

I then opened my bible to the Exact Chapter of Isaiah 39 that teaches on Hezekiah.

I read the chapter, then read further..

In earlier chapters of Isaiah, it tells how Hezekiah had been sick. He had sent for Isaiah the prophet.............so Isaiah could pray for him...

In Isaiah 38: 1-2

Isaiah speaks to Hezekiah and tells him that God said to set his house in order: for thou shalt die and not live.
Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord.
He wept sore unto the Lord.

God heard his prayer and God told Isaiah to tell Hezekiah that 15 years had been added to his life because he called upon God.

Isaiah 39 tells of how the sons of the King of Babylon came unto Hezekiah and brought him a present, because they  had heard that he had been sick, and had recovered.

Hezekiah knew that this King of Babylon was King of a rich country.  This was a compliment to  Hezekiah when the sons had visited him.
While they were visiting Hezekiah.............................................................................Hezekiah  allowed the sons to see all of his treasures that he had accumulated through time.  They saw every thing that Hezekiah had in his whole house.

Hezekiah was proud of all that he had and wanted to brag to the sons of just how much that he had also.
He wanted to feel important to these men.

Isaiah 39:2     And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house or his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.

In verse 3: It tells of Isaiah coming to Hezekiah and asking him...................................................."What did these men say to you? and where did they come from and what did you show them?

Hezekiah told Isaiah that they had came from a far country and he had shown them all that he had in his house.

Isaiah 39:5-8

Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the Word of the Lord of hosts:

Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.

And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the place of the King of Babylon.

Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the Word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, for there shall be peace and truth in my days.

2 Chronicles 32
In this chapter it tells of all of Hezekiah's riches. God had blessed him and his country abundantly.....................................................................................But God had a plan..............
This was to put Hezekiah through a test.

God wanted to see what Hezekiah had in his heart.

What I see here is that Hezekiah became prideful of all of the material things that he had in his life.
He had accumulated so many material things in life that it went to this head.

He became puffed up!

What Hezekiah did not realize, was that It is God who gives us all that we have and he was not giving God the credit, the honour and the Glory for all of the treasures that he had.

He became careless ...............................................................And he did not care Who saw his riches because he wanted to brag on what he had so that it made him look important!

When we don't give God the Glory in all that we have, it allows the devil to enter into our houses and take away what God has given us.............

We act carelessly!
We must remember that All that we have is what God has given us!

Hezekiah became a man pleaser instead of a God pleaser.

God will test us to see what is truly in our hearts................................................................................Are we giving God the Glory?  Are we forgetting that it is God who heals us and gives us our treasures?
Those hidden treasures are from God! We must not allow the devil to come and take away our treasures.

To God be all the Glory and Honour!!
