Proverbs 30:11-17
11. There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
12. there is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
13. There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
14. There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off of the earth, and the needy from among them.
15. The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough.
16. The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough:
17. The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
In todays world, We see children who are not obedient to their parents. They take their parents for granted.
Children soon forget how we as parents have taken care of them, cared for them when they could not speak, when they could not walk, when they could not do for theirselves.
We feed them and we cloth them. Not because we have to, but because we love them and because they are a part of us, but it seems as if they do not appreciate it. They in return are rebellious. We try to teach them not to do certain things in life because we know that it will hurt them if they do. It is only because we do not want to see them hurt and we do not want to see them headed down the wrong paths, with the wrong people, because we know just how destructive that it could be to them.
But kids are sometimes immature and they tend to think that we do not know what we are talking about.
They do not fully understand because they are immature. They see things with What we would call Rose colored glasses.
Have you ever heard the phrase that parents often say..."I brought you into this world, and I can take you out?"
When we think of how we do with our children, We need to see God in those same ways.
He did bring us into this world and he can take us out.
We take it for granted that just because he loves us, that we can continue in sin and he will just let it go and never do anything about it.... But just as parents are toward their children, When they go on to the point where we have had enough, and we know that if we dont do something with this child, He or she is going to go to far...........We say ok, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
The same way with God!
He will sometimes allow us to make decisions that he knows that are not right for us to learn, but when he sees that we are headed for trouble and when our soul is in danger, he has to correct us.
This is when judgement comes to us. We dont always like the consequences and as little children, we pout and fuss and pucker our lips, but we must suck it up and go on and learn from it and realize that God only chastises us so that we dont make the wrong decisions in life, that will lead us down that path of destruction.
When our bodies, our souls, are in danger, he has to do something to bring us back in to safety. Is this not the way we are with our kids? We dont want to see them in danger, so we make sure we do what we have to do to keep them safe, no matter what it is that we have to do..
Sometimes it is not always what we want to do to them, but we have to in order to get them to listen. Ive heard parents say that when they whip there children, they say " This hurts me more than it does you". I know children think, yeah right!
But dont you think that it hurts God when he has to correct us in ways that hurts us?
The problem with children today, is that they act is if they have not done anything wrong, when they should know that they have.
Isaiah 59: 5-8 sais:
They hatch cockatrice eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.
Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: thier works are workers of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.
Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgement in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whoseover goeth therein shall not know peace.
Have you heard the old saying that people say...." O, the tangled web we weave?"
The web that people weave is sin and we tend to weave it over and over till we become tangled up in it.. we cannot find out way out for all the traps that have been set for us.
Psalm 119:110
The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.
Psalms 140:5 The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords: they have spread a net by the wayside; the have set gins for me.
Gins meaning: a trap
Jeremiah 5:26 For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set up a trap, they catch men.
When we walk in evil, we will never have any peace.
In Proverbs 30:17, It is talking about the eye that mocks the father and the ravens of the valley shall pick it out and the young eagles will eat it.
The "Eye" is referred to as the window to our soul.
Mathew 6:22-24 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
But if thine eye be evil, the whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Mammom meaning: The false god of riches. riches regarded as an object of worship and greedy pursuit.
Psalm 19:8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord if pure, enlightening the eyes.
When verse 17 speaks about the ravens coming to pick it out... The ravens are to pick out whatever truth is still left in a persons mind.. When we do not believe the truth, this is the same as having pleasure in unrighteousness.
When anyone heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which recieved seed by the wayside.
When it speaks of the eagles, how the eagles will eat it..... the eagle is strong.. So if the strong eagle eats the truth in us..... It leaves us as the weaker vessel.. We become weak, because we do not have the word of God in us.. The Word of God is life to our souls and marrow to our bones...
When we do not want to embrase the truth, we become weak, because satin sets traps for us to fall into so that we feel as if we cannot come back..
Jeremiah 5:4 Therefore I said, surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way fo the Lord, nor the judgement of their God.
Amos 3:10 For they know not to do right, saith the Lord, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.
We need to open our eyes and see that God is all we need and we need to walk upright before him because he is only looking out for us. He loves us and does not want to see us living in destruction.
Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of Gods righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
1 Peter 1:13-16 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
As Obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Ephesians 4:17-18 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind.
Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
Micah 4:12 But they know not the thoughts of the Lord, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor..
Have we took God for Granted? Have we been unapreciative with him for all he has done for us?
How many times have we let God know just how much we are thankful to him for bringing us out of danger and correcting us so that we dont go to far?
He loves us and is looking out for us.. We need to lean on him and learn from him because he is the truth, the life and the way!
