Phillipians 3:13 says:.........Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.
Why do we always want to look back at things that happened in the past?
That is all water under the Bridge! When we do things that we regret, and time has passed, look to those things as a lesson learned and strive to do better in the future. We need to realize that God does not dredge up the past. He is a forgiver of ALL SINS! When he forgives us of our past sins, they are all forgotten and he moves us forward.
It is Satan who tries to make us re-live the past. He is the one who tries to bring up the old stuff to try to keep us from moving ahead. When he dredges up the past, it causes us to set and ponder on all of the heartaches and so on, so that we get angry, and then we have unforgiveness in our hearts toward others.....
He wants us to wallow in our own self pity, because if he can get us to the point of having unforgiveness, then he has accomplished what he set out to do, and that is to trick us into taking our souls to Hell!
Mathew 6:14 ................ for if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly father will also forgive you: ...........verse 15.............. But if we forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your father ( God) forgive your trespasses.
Satan knows what he is doing when he tries to make us re-live all of those things of the past....... He knows just how to trick us into sinning. Dont allow him to trick your mind............He is the master of deception!!!
When he starts working on our minds............A good verse to speak out loud, to fight the bad thoughts that he has planted in our minds is :...........
2 corinthians 4, 5, and 6................ For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. And having in readiness to revenge all disobedience when your obedience is fullfilled.
